Physical Therapy & Wellness

I’m a physical therapist, yoga instructor, and holistic health coach who understands all too well the struggle of living life with chronic pain. I'm the CEO and founder of Angstrom Alpha Physical Therapy & Wellness, where I provide health and wellness services that enable my patients and clients to achieve a lifestyle of optimal health, harmony, and happiness. I earned my doctorate in physical therapy at Columbia University, and studied yoga and ayurvedic therapies in Rishikesh, India.

Within my business, I specialize in the recovery and management of chronic conditions. Primarily helping people who are fed up with chronic flare-ups draining their energy and decreasing their quality of life, whether that’s their sleep, their mood, their daily routines, their relationships, or the way they move. As someone who has conquered these chronic issues myself, I have learned first-hand that recuperating an aching body and a heavy heart is possible. It just requires us to look past the band-aid fixes and instead gift ourselves the benefits of a wholesome lifestyle approach.

How do patients & clients improve?

MY STORY

Here’s the thing… healthcare for pain management, as we know it, is changing.

It’s no longer about treating the pain with pills or getting

temporary relief with steroid injections.

What it’s really about is restoring a feeling of safety to your body AND your mind––and then gently retraining the way you

move.

So how do you do this?

Through a TOTAL RESET to your nervous system: AKA a step-by-step, hand-held approach that will transform your physical health and mental health forever.

So that you go from being overwhelmed by chronic pain to becoming empowered with the skills, the confidence, and the energy you need to feel at ease again in your body.

I’m super excited to share with you how I went from being bedridden from my chronic back pain to becoming so independent and confident in my pain-free movement that I can now teach others. But more on that later…

Because before I was successful at helping other people heal their chronic pain...

I had to heal myself.

Five years ago, at a pedestrian crosswalk, I was walking down the street, when I was hit from the right side by a car, trying to screech to a halt, but couldn’t stop in time.

My body absorbed the weight of the car and I fell to the ground, injured my spine, suffered a concussion, and broke several bones (even my jaw).

For several months, I dealt with the trauma to both my physical health and my mental health.

I was bedridden except for a few exhausting appointments every week, to sit in MRI machines and doctor’s offices..

I tried PRP (platelet rich plasma injections), steroid injections, nerve frequency ablation, traditional physical therapy, acupuncture, and massage… but nothing would stop my pain and I was slowly sinking into a depression.

To distract myself from feeling hopeless, I ravaged the research on healing different types of pain (for example, acute versus chronic) and it became clear that chronic pain required a specialized approach.

With acute pain, like an ankle sprain after a hike, the pain usually goes away in a few weeks/months with some rest, ice, compression, and a few physical therapy exercises.

But with chronic pain, the pain is known to last 6 months or longer. Mine lasted years. Why?! I was so frustrated. How come it didn’t just heal like all my sprained ankles in the past?

Because the root cause of chronic pain is not just one body part. It’s the accumulation of stress in the mind and body, leading to an overly sensitized nervous system.

Back when I was in the height of my chronic pain, I could not walk, drive, or do any sort of physical activity without pain.

I thought I’d never get on a plane again or take a road trip.

Even sitting down for 10 minutes and standing still for 10 minutes would make my whole body start to hurt. Yoga was out of the question back then.

One day I woke up and knew I’d had enough. I couldn’t live in constant pain anymore. And that’s when I decided to get off the chronic pain roller coaster for good.

Building bit by bit, I started to reset my nervous system with slow, gentle movement.

I learned gentle yoga and physical therapy techniques geared specifically toward chronic pain.

And slowly but surely, as I practiced my holistic movement techniques, I really started healing, and it was like starting all over again.

Once I finally felt my body and my mind healing and coming into harmony with my spirit, I felt whole again. I felt like I finally had control back and I wasn’t just a soul trapped inside an uncomfortable body. I felt ENERGIZED, in a way I hadn’t experienced since before my accident.

So once I finally felt like myself again, I looked back and analyzed my own healing trajectory: what worked, and what didn’t.

Now my mission is to help you heal your over-sensitized nervous system and your fear of movement so you can feel comfortable, joyful, and safe again in your body, your mind, your relationships, and your entire lifestyle.

Why am I qualified to help you?
